From our travellers

“The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie…”

“Stanley Gichuki crafted the journey of dreams… Samburu was our favorite in terms of landscape. We stood in awe in Samburu as reticulated giraffes swept across the horizon…”

“Our guide Samuel was fantastic – incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara.”

Planning a Kenya safari from Switzerland

With one connection and only one or two hours’ time difference, Kenya is a practical long-haul trip from Switzerland. A week is a good length, and fly-in routes let you see more without long road days.

Choose where you sleep first, because a camp in the right place saves you hours of driving each day. Our head guides, Boniface Kamau and John Mithamo, each have more than 20 years in these parks, and every trip is private, with your own vehicle and guide from start to finish.

Do Swiss Citizens Need a Visa for Kenya?

Swiss passport holders need an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before they fly. Kenya’s official eTA portal lists Switzerland as eTA required. The standard eTA costs $30 and is generally processed within three business days.

Since 5 October 2026, most visitors must also buy Kenya’s mandatory inbound travel insurance before they travel, through the eTA application or the eCitizen portal. A foreign policy does not count towards this, so keep your own insurance as well.

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs publishes travel advice for Kenya in German, French and Italian. Read it before you book.

Flights from Switzerland

There are no direct flights from Zurich to Nairobi. One-stop routes run through Istanbul, Addis Ababa, the Gulf or other European hubs. Kenya is two hours ahead of Switzerland in winter and one hour ahead in summer.

Fly-In or Road

Flying between parks takes about an hour on many routes and saves the 5 to 6 hour drive from Nairobi to the Mara. Light aircraft limit luggage, usually to about 15kg in a soft bag. Our fly-in or road guide compares the two.
