Safari holidays from the Netherlands

Kenya Safari Tours and Packages from the Netherlands

Amsterdam has non-stop flights to Nairobi, so a Kenya safari is easier to reach from the Netherlands than from most of Europe. Every itinerary includes your own 4×4 and a professional driver-guide.

From our travellers

“The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie…”

“Our guide Samuel was fantastic – incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara.”

Planning a Kenya safari from the Netherlands

With a non-stop flight of about eight and a half hours and little jet lag, you can do more in less time from the Netherlands. Five days is enough for two parks, and a week covers three.

Most flights land in Nairobi in the evening, so plan one night in the city before the safari. Our head guides, Boniface Kamau and John Mithamo, each have more than 20 years in these parks, and every trip is private, with your own vehicle and guide from start to finish.

Do Dutch Citizens Need a Visa for Kenya?

Dutch passport holders need an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before they fly. Kenya’s official eTA portal lists the Netherlands as eTA required. The standard eTA costs $30 and is generally processed within three business days.

Since 5 October 2026, most visitors must also buy Kenya’s mandatory inbound travel insurance before they travel, through the eTA application or the eCitizen portal. A foreign policy does not count towards this, so keep your own insurance as well.

Read the Dutch government travel advice before you book. It rates most of Kenya yellow, with stricter colours for areas near the Somali and Ethiopian borders and parts of the coast.

Flights from Amsterdam

KLM and Kenya Airways fly non-stop from Amsterdam to Nairobi, about 8 hours 25 minutes, with around two flights a day. Kenya is two hours ahead of the Netherlands in winter and one hour ahead in summer.

School Holidays

The Dutch summer holiday falls in Kenya’s long dry season, and the migration is usually in the Mara from late July. The autumn and Christmas breaks also work well. Our family safaris keep drive days shorter for children.
