Home › Luxury Kenya Safaris › 4-Day Fly-in Masai Mara Luxury Safari
This four-day fly-in safari focuses entirely on the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve. Flying in from Nairobi means you skip the long drive and maximize your time on game drives. Two full days in the Mara, plus game drives on arrival and departure days, give you solid coverage of the reserve with enough flexibility to follow the wildlife and explore different areas.
The Mara needs no introduction. Big cats are everywhere, from lions in large prides to cheetahs hunting the plains and leopards working the riverine woodland. Elephants, buffalo, giraffe, and countless plains game fill the scenery. If you’re visiting between July and October, you’ll catch the migration when over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra cross from Tanzania. Outside those months, the resident wildlife is still excellent.
Flying in and out on scheduled flights makes sense. You’ve already committed to getting to Kenya, so spend your time watching animals instead of sitting in a vehicle for five or six hours. Mara Serena sits on a hilltop with panoramic views across the reserve, offering comfortable accommodation while still feeling like you’re on safari.
Accommodations:
Masai Mara 3 nights. Starts and ends in Nairobi.
Return flights between Nairobi and the Mara are included.
Flight Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour · Meals: Lunch & Dinner
You’ll be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or airport and transferred to Wilson Airport for your morning flight to the Mara. The flight takes under an hour in a light aircraft, crossing the Rift Valley with good views of the escarpment and changing scenery below. Most flights make one or two stops at different airstrips, so the exact time varies depending on which strip you’re landing at.
Once you land, your guide meets you at the airstrip for the short transfer to camp. After checking in and having lunch, there’s time to settle in before the late afternoon game drive. Your first outing introduces you to the Mara’s rolling grasslands dotted with acacia trees and the sheer density of wildlife. Lions, elephants, buffalo, and plains game are standard viewing even on day one. The guides stay in radio contact, sharing information about what’s happening across the reserve.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
The full day starts with an early breakfast followed by a morning game drive. This is when predators are most active and the light is best for photography. Lions are easy to find here, often in prides of ten or more. Cheetahs prefer the open plains where they can use their speed. Leopards take more work but sightings happen regularly, particularly near the Mara River and in patches of woodland. Your guide reads the scenery and animal behavior to put you in the right place.
You’ll return to camp for lunch and rest during the heat of the day. The afternoon game drive continues exploring, maybe focusing on the Mara River where hippos fill the pools and large crocodiles rest on the banks. Even without migration crossings, the river attracts different wildlife and birds. The forest along the banks creates a completely different habitat from the open grassland. Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the Mara, including an impressive number of raptors.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Your second full day in the Mara. By now your guide knows what you’re most interested in and can adjust accordingly. Some people want maximum big cat viewing, others are into birds or just want to sit and watch the general flow of wildlife. The morning drive might take you to new areas or back to productive spots from the previous days. The Mara is large enough that you can cover different territory each time.
Options today include a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch out in the reserve, which gives you more flexibility to follow wildlife movements without rushing back for meals. July through October is migration season, and if the herds are around, the activity can be intense. River crossings are dramatic and unpredictable. Outside migration months, the resident populations of all species remain strong. Optional activities include a hot air balloon safari at dawn or visiting a nearby Maasai village to learn about their culture and relationship with the wildlife.

Flight Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour · Meals: Breakfast
Early morning game drive before breakfast gives you one last chance to see anything you’ve missed or revisit favorite areas. The early hours are prime for wildlife activity before the day heats up. After the drive you’ll return to camp for breakfast and check out. Transfer to the airstrip for your mid-morning or late morning flight back to Nairobi, depending on the schedule.
You’ll land at Wilson Airport where you’ll be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, or to your Nairobi hotel if you’re staying on. Most international flights from Nairobi leave in the evening, which works well with the morning Mara departures. If you have an early morning flight out of Kenya, you’ll need to overnight near the international airport.

A Couple in December 2025 - 5 Stars We booked with Stanley and Majestic Safari for the 6-day luxury tour through Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli. The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie, who was an essential part of tracking these animals - you have to request him if booking through Majestic. Each accommodation also exceeded our expectations in terms of location, comfort, quality and service of the staff. Being a first time safari for us, we weren’t sure what to expect - but selecting the luxury option was well worth it. All aspects of travel and organisation was seamless. Once booked, there was next to nothing for us to think about as we were in experienced hands - and we were glad to have partnered with Majestic as there was significantly more organisation required in the background than we originally realised. Stanley also went above and beyond the itinerary, picking us up from the airport late at night despite the tour not starting until a few days later and ensuring we had some food to take into the hotel. This was after providing us with in-depth packing lists and general guidance on exploring Nairobi. I couldn’t recommend Majestic enough and hope to arrange another trip with Stanley in the future.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A Beautiful Safari with an Excellent Guide – Just Check the Route First Majestic Kenyan Safaris gave us a wonderful Kenya experience, and our guide was genuinely lovely. He was calm, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, parks, and local environment, which made the safari both engaging and meaningful. One thing worth noting for future travellers is the itinerary structure. Over the six-day safari, the route involved long drives in a zig-zag pattern rather than a simple circular loop. This meant more transit time on some days. This was not the fault of the company or the guide, as the itinerary was clearly outlined, but something we wish we had paid closer attention to when booking. Overall, Majestic Kenyan Safaris were professional, warm, and well organised. With careful attention to route planning beforehand, they offer a truly memorable safari experience.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The most Unforgettable Safari Stanley Gichuki crafted the journey of dreams Thanks to our incredible guide, Bonie whose fearless spirit turned every mile into magic. He welcomed us in Samburu National Park and led us off the beaten path with a deep, soulful knowledge of the land, its stories, its rhythms, its wild heart. Samburu was our favorite in terms of landscape. We stood in awe in Samburu as reticulated giraffes swept across the horizon, watched Grevy’s zebras stride with quiet elegance, and felt the earth tremble beneath African elephants. We held our breath as a cheetah emerged from the tall grass, and we followed Kamau Boniethrough wet, treacherous tracks to where lions rule their hidden kingdom. Our journey continued into Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a sanctuary of hope, where we encountered the gentle wisdom of chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall, Sweetwater Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and witnessed the immense beauty of both white and black rhinos, alongside more elephants, more lions… and countless unforgettable moments. Our journey ended in the Maasai Mara . Our last drive was unforgettabel as we watched a cheetah devouring a thompson gazelle, leaving the rest of the kill to a fight between two jackals and a flock of vultures. We had a brief encounter with a leopard walking down a river and watched more lions enjoying their buffalo lunch. Truly memorable experiences. Kenya, you are once in a lifetime. Thank youPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Safari with Majestick Kenya We just returned from a 9 days safari, and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was arranged very well, our driver/guide Bonnie was outstanding. The tour company did everything to be helpfull in picking up from the airport, taking us with their jeep to all the place we visited, and we had very nice game drives. We went to Samburu, Oj Pejeta, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. The lodges were great, good value for money and we were upgraded in 2 places. Thank you Majestick, and al your staff. Amazing Safari Experience! Just got back from an amazing 7-day safari with Majestic Kenya Safaris! Our guide Samuel was fantastic - incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara. Everything was perfectly organized from airport transfers to accommodations. The mix of lodges and tented camps was great, and falling asleep to African bush sounds was magical. Vehicle was comfortable for the longer drives between parks. One activity got cancelled due to weather, but they quickly arranged something even better. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a Kenya safari - unforgettable experience!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

From the moment we booked, their team was incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring every detail was taken care of. The safari itself was breathtaking—our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and knew the best spots for wildlife viewing. We saw the Big Five up close, along with stunning landscapes that felt like something out of a dream. The accommodations were luxurious yet blended seamlessly with nature. What stood out most was their genuine passion for conservation and community support. I highly recommend Majestic Kenya Safaris for an unforgettable, world-class experience in Kenya!
