Home › Luxury Kenya Safaris › 7-Day Luxury Kenya Flying Safari
Seven days covering Amboseli and the Masai Mara with flights between parks. Two nights at the base of Kilimanjaro, then four nights in the Mara. Straightforward routing that hits Kenya’s two most famous parks without wasting time on roads.
Amboseli works as a starting point. The park is small enough to cover properly in two days, and the elephant herds against Kilimanjaro are exactly what most people have in mind when they book Kenya. Ol Tukai Lodge sits inside the park next to a swamp, so you get wildlife passing through all day even when you’re not on drives.
Four nights in the Mara gives you three full days for game viewing. Mara Serena is the only lodge inside the Mara Triangle, perched on a hill with views over the plains and river. The Triangle tends to have fewer vehicles than the main reserve and the wildlife density is solid. Between July and October you’re positioned well for migration river crossings.
Using domestic flights between parks takes about 45 minutes per leg instead of five or six hours on rough roads. Makes sense at this price point.
Accommodations:
Amboseli 2 nights · Masai Mara 4 nights. Starts and ends in Nairobi.
Flights between parks are included.
Flight Time: 45 minutes · Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Morning pickup and transfer to Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli. The plane holds about 12 passengers and flies low enough that you get good views. Kilimanjaro shows up well before you land if it’s clear.
Touch down at Amboseli airstrip around mid-morning. Transfer to Ol Tukai Lodge takes 10 minutes, it’s the only lodge inside the park itself. The location next to a swamp means animals come through constantly. Elephants, buffalo, zebra drinking and feeding right in front of the rooms. Check in, lunch, then first game drive around 4:00 PM.
Amboseli is small at 392 square kilometers but everything concentrates around the swamps. Elephants are the main attraction, big tuskers, family groups, young bulls. The research program here has tracked these families since 1972. Also plenty of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, different antelope species. Lions take more work to find than in the Mara but they’re around.
Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Early start around 6:30 when Kilimanjaro is usually visible. The mountain typically shows at dawn, then clouds form around the summit by mid-morning. Your guide will set you up for the classic shot, elephants with the peak behind them. It’s been done a million times but it works.
Morning around the swamps watching elephant families. These animals are well-habituated so you can get close. Back to the lodge for lunch and a break. The swamp is active all day from the lodge terrace, so you’re still watching wildlife even during the midday rest.
Afternoon drive at 4:00. Observation Hill in the center of the park is worth climbing for views across the basin. Short walk, easy grade. Birdlife around the wetlands is good, pelicans, geese, herons, egrets. Cheetahs sometimes hunt on the dry lake bed.
Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.
Flight Time: 1 hour · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Quick early drive if you want it, otherwise just breakfast and pack up. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the Mara. Usually routes through Nairobi with a fuel stop, then continues to the Mara. Total time about an hour.
Land at Mara Serena airstrip. The lodge is close, maybe 5 minutes. Mara Serena sits up on a hill overlooking the Mara Triangle, the western section of the reserve. It’s the only lodge actually inside the Triangle, which gives you good access and views. Check in, lunch, then afternoon drive into the Triangle.
The difference from Amboseli is immediate. Much bigger space, way more animals. Lions, elephants, buffalo spread across the plains. The Mara River runs through the Triangle with hippos and crocodiles year-round. Wildlife density here is on another level.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Full day with morning and afternoon drives. Start around 6:30 when it’s cooler and predators are active. Lions are almost guaranteed, the Mara has lots of them. Leopards show up regularly near the rivers where there’s tree cover. Cheetahs prefer the open plains for hunting. Buffalo in big herds, rhinos less common but present, elephants everywhere.
If you’re there July through October, the migration will dominate. Over a million wildebeest crossing from Tanzania, creating the river crossings you see in documentaries. Completely unpredictable though, might see multiple crossings in a morning or wait days. Your guide stays in radio contact so if something’s happening nearby you’ll get there.
Outside those months the resident animals still deliver plenty. Actually less crowded without the migration crowds.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Second full day covering different parts of the Triangle. The Mara River deserves extended time even without crossings, lots of hippos, big crocodiles, different bird species along the water. Worth an hour just sitting and watching.
By now your guide knows what you’re interested in and will focus accordingly. Want to find rhinos? He knows where they’ve been lately. Looking for cheetahs? He’ll head to the open plains where they hunt.
Hot air balloon rides available if you book ahead, around $450 per person. Early morning launch, then champagne breakfast in the bush after landing.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Third full day. At this point you’ve seen most of what’s around, so today is more about enjoying it than checking boxes. Spend an hour with a pride instead of rushing off. Watch hippos interact in the river. Take it slower.
The lodge has a pool, spa treatments available, decent food. You can skip an afternoon drive if you want and just relax with the views. Last night so make it count.
Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge.
Flight Time: 45 minutes · Meals: Breakfast
Final morning drive, breakfast, pack up. Flight to Nairobi lands at Wilson around midday. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta for international connections or to a city hotel if you’re staying over.
Most US flights leave evening, KLM to Amsterdam, Ethiopian to Addis, Emirates and Qatar via Middle East. Day room near the airport works if you need somewhere to shower and wait.

A Couple in December 2025 - 5 Stars We booked with Stanley and Majestic Safari for the 6-day luxury tour through Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli. The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie, who was an essential part of tracking these animals - you have to request him if booking through Majestic. Each accommodation also exceeded our expectations in terms of location, comfort, quality and service of the staff. Being a first time safari for us, we weren’t sure what to expect - but selecting the luxury option was well worth it. All aspects of travel and organisation was seamless. Once booked, there was next to nothing for us to think about as we were in experienced hands - and we were glad to have partnered with Majestic as there was significantly more organisation required in the background than we originally realised. Stanley also went above and beyond the itinerary, picking us up from the airport late at night despite the tour not starting until a few days later and ensuring we had some food to take into the hotel. This was after providing us with in-depth packing lists and general guidance on exploring Nairobi. I couldn’t recommend Majestic enough and hope to arrange another trip with Stanley in the future.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A Beautiful Safari with an Excellent Guide – Just Check the Route First Majestic Kenyan Safaris gave us a wonderful Kenya experience, and our guide was genuinely lovely. He was calm, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, parks, and local environment, which made the safari both engaging and meaningful. One thing worth noting for future travellers is the itinerary structure. Over the six-day safari, the route involved long drives in a zig-zag pattern rather than a simple circular loop. This meant more transit time on some days. This was not the fault of the company or the guide, as the itinerary was clearly outlined, but something we wish we had paid closer attention to when booking. Overall, Majestic Kenyan Safaris were professional, warm, and well organised. With careful attention to route planning beforehand, they offer a truly memorable safari experience.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The most Unforgettable Safari Stanley Gichuki crafted the journey of dreams Thanks to our incredible guide, Bonie whose fearless spirit turned every mile into magic. He welcomed us in Samburu National Park and led us off the beaten path with a deep, soulful knowledge of the land, its stories, its rhythms, its wild heart. Samburu was our favorite in terms of landscape. We stood in awe in Samburu as reticulated giraffes swept across the horizon, watched Grevy’s zebras stride with quiet elegance, and felt the earth tremble beneath African elephants. We held our breath as a cheetah emerged from the tall grass, and we followed Kamau Boniethrough wet, treacherous tracks to where lions rule their hidden kingdom. Our journey continued into Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a sanctuary of hope, where we encountered the gentle wisdom of chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall, Sweetwater Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and witnessed the immense beauty of both white and black rhinos, alongside more elephants, more lions… and countless unforgettable moments. Our journey ended in the Maasai Mara . Our last drive was unforgettabel as we watched a cheetah devouring a thompson gazelle, leaving the rest of the kill to a fight between two jackals and a flock of vultures. We had a brief encounter with a leopard walking down a river and watched more lions enjoying their buffalo lunch. Truly memorable experiences. Kenya, you are once in a lifetime. Thank youPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Safari with Majestick Kenya We just returned from a 9 days safari, and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was arranged very well, our driver/guide Bonnie was outstanding. The tour company did everything to be helpfull in picking up from the airport, taking us with their jeep to all the place we visited, and we had very nice game drives. We went to Samburu, Oj Pejeta, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. The lodges were great, good value for money and we were upgraded in 2 places. Thank you Majestick, and al your staff. We highly recommend you.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Amazing Safari Experience! Just got back from an amazing 7-day safari with Majestic Kenya Safaris! Our guide Samuel was fantastic - incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara. Everything was perfectly organized from airport transfers to accommodations. The mix of lodges and tented camps was great, and falling asleep to African bush sounds was magical. Vehicle was comfortable for the longer drives between parks. One activity got cancelled due to weather, but they quickly arranged something even better. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a Kenya safari - unforgettable experience!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Best Safari experience! Majestic Kenya Safaris in Nairobi exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we booked, their team was incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring every detail was taken care of. The safari itself was breathtaking—our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and knew the best spots for wildlife viewing. We saw the Big Five up close, along with stunning landscapes that felt like something out of a dream. The accommodations were luxurious yet blended seamlessly with nature. What stood out most was their genuine passion for conservation and community support. I highly recommend Majestic Kenya Safaris for an unforgettable, world-class experience in Kenya!
