Kenya Safari Tours and Packages from Russia

The journey from Moscow takes 15 hours or more each way, so plan on at least seven nights once you land. A week covers three parks at a sensible pace, or two parks plus the coast. Try to fit four or five parks into that time and you will spend more of it in the vehicle than watching animals.

The guide matters more than most first-timers expect. Our head guides, Boniface Kamau and John Mithamo, each have more than 20 years in these parks. Every trip is private, with your own vehicle and guide from start to finish, so you decide how long to stay at a sighting.

Do Russians Need a Visa for Kenya?

Russian passport holders need an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before they fly. Kenya’s official eTA portal lists Russia as eTA required. The standard eTA costs $30 and is generally processed within three business days. An expedited application costs $100 more and is processed immediately.

Each traveller needs their own eTA, and your passport must have at least six months’ validity and one blank page. The form asks for a photo, your contact details, your travel itinerary and your accommodation confirmation, and the fee is paid online by card. Check that your card works for international payments before you start, and apply at least two weeks before you fly so a delay does not catch you out.

Flights from Russia to Kenya

From Moscow, expect about 15 to 17 hours in total with one connection. Emirates and flydubai are the usual choices through Dubai, and other carriers on the route include Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Etihad. You land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, where we meet you for your airport transfer.

Kenya and Moscow are both on UTC+3, so there is no time difference to adjust to. Most of our trips start from Nairobi, so if your flight lands late, we can book a city hotel for your first night. Check the rules of your transit country when you choose a route.

Safari and Beach on One Trip

Kenya lets you finish a week of early game drives on the Indian Ocean. On our 10-day safari and beach trip you see Amboseli and Tsavo East, then spend five nights at Diani Beach. For a shorter trip, the 8-day route through Tsavo West and Amboseli ends at Watamu.

Do the safari first. Game drives start early and the days are full, so the beach works better as the rest at the end. If you want more choice, our safari and beach holidays cover other lengths and budgets.

When to Travel from Russia

June to October is the long dry season, with the wildebeest migration in the Mara from late July to October. Those are the months when the best camps fill first, so book early.

For a break from the Russian winter, look at January and February. It is a short dry season with strong game viewing, and it pairs well with a few nights on the coast. Other months bring quieter parks and lower lodge rates, though the rains can affect some routes, and we will tell you if that applies to your dates.
