“The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie…”

“Our guide Samuel was fantastic – incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara.”

Planning a Kenya safari from Mexico

There are no direct flights from Mexico to Kenya, and most journeys take well over 20 hours with one stop. That makes a short safari hard to justify, so we suggest at least seven nights on the ground, and nine or ten if you can.

A week covers three parks at a sensible pace, with two or three nights in the Masai Mara. Our head guides, Boniface Kamau and John Mithamo, each have more than 20 years in these parks, and every trip is private, with your own vehicle and guide from start to finish.

Do Mexicans Need a Visa for Kenya?

Mexican passport holders need an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before they fly. Kenya’s official eTA portal lists Mexico as eTA required. The standard eTA costs $30 and is generally processed within three business days. The Mexican embassy in Nairobi suggests leaving out accents and the letter ñ when you fill in the form.

Since 5 October 2026, most visitors must also buy Kenya’s mandatory inbound travel insurance before they travel, through the eTA application or the eCitizen portal. A foreign policy does not count towards this, so keep your own insurance as well.

Flights from Mexico to Kenya

Every route from Mexico City has at least one stop, usually through Amsterdam, Paris, Istanbul or a Gulf hub. KLM connects in Amsterdam to its non-stop Nairobi flight, which is often the simplest option. You land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where we meet you for your transfer.

Kenya is nine hours ahead of Mexico City, so plan a night in Nairobi before the safari starts. We can book the hotel.

When to Travel from Mexico

The July and August holidays line up with Kenya’s long dry season and, from late July, the wildebeest migration in the Mara. Book early for those months. Semana Santa can overlap with the long rains, which usually start around March or April, so ask us about your dates. January and February are a short dry season and fall in our lower price period.
