Itinerary

  • Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

    Drive Time: About 4-5 hours

    Meals: Lunch & Dinner

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. You'll set off in a 4x4 safari vehicle, driving south towards Amboseli National Park. The journey takes you through rural Kenyan landscapes, offering glimpses of local life and changing scenery.

As you approach Amboseli, the terrain becomes more arid, and you might spot your first wildlife along the roadside. Arrive at your accommodation - either Kibo Safari Camp or Sentrim Amboseli - in time for lunch. These mid-range camps offer comfortable tented accommodations with en-suite facilities and views of the surrounding wilderness.

After settling in, embark on your first game drive in Amboseli. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Your guide will help you spot various wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species.

Return to the camp for dinner and overnight, perhaps enjoying the sounds of the African night around a campfire.

  • Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Rise early for a morning game drive when animals are most active. Amboseli's flat, open terrain makes it ideal for wildlife viewing. Watch as elephant families make their way across the plains, often with Kilimanjaro providing a majestic backdrop (weather permitting).

Return to the camp for a late breakfast and some relaxation time. You might choose to take a dip in the pool, if available, or simply relax and enjoy the views.

After lunch, head out for another game drive. Your guide will seek out predators like lions and cheetahs, which are often found resting in the shade during the heat of the day. You'll also have the chance to observe the park's rich birdlife, from towering ostriches to colorful bee-eaters.

As the day cools, your guide will find a scenic spot for you to watch the sunset over the plains before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park

    Drive Time: About 3-4 hours

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey to Tsavo West National Park. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, from the open plains of Amboseli to the more rugged terrain of Tsavo.

Arrive at your accommodation - either Ngulia Safari Lodge or Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge - in time for lunch. These lodges offer panoramic views of the Tsavo landscape and nearby waterholes often frequented by wildlife.

In the afternoon, set out for a game drive in Tsavo West. The park is known for its red-dusted elephants, ancient lava flows, and diverse ecosystems. Your guide will help you spot wildlife while sharing insights about the park's geology and ecology.

Visit the famous Mzima Springs, where you can observe hippos and crocodiles from an underwater viewing chamber. As the day ends, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 4: Tsavo West National Park Full Day

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Start your day with an early morning game drive, exploring different areas of Tsavo West. The park's varied landscapes, from acacia woodlands to rocky outcrops, support a diverse range of wildlife. Look for black rhinos, leopards, and various antelope species.

Return to the lodge for a late breakfast and some leisure time. You might choose to relax by the pool or join a guided nature walk if offered by your accommodation.

After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive. Visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area within the park where you can learn about rhino conservation efforts. As the day cools, your guide will find a scenic spot for a sundowner, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the African sunset.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, perhaps sharing stories of the day's sightings around the campfire.

  • Day 5: Tsavo West to Tsavo East National Park

    Drive Time: About 2-3 hours

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, check out and drive to Tsavo East National Park. The landscape changes as you move from the hilly terrain of Tsavo West to the flatter, more arid plains of Tsavo East.

Arrive at your accommodation - either Ashnil Aruba Lodge or Voi Safari Lodge - in time for lunch. These lodges offer views over waterholes or the Galana River, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities right from the property.

In the afternoon, set out for a game drive in Tsavo East. The park is known for its large elephant herds, often covered in red dust, giving them their iconic appearance. Your guide will also search for lions, including the infamous "man-eaters of Tsavo," and other predators.

Visit the Mudanda Rock, a natural water catchment area that attracts numerous animals during the dry season. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, listening to the sounds of the African bush.

  • Day 6: Tsavo East to Lake Nakuru National Park

    Drive Time: About 6-7 hours

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After an early breakfast, begin your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. This long drive takes you through changing landscapes, from the arid plains of Tsavo to the lush highlands of central Kenya.

You'll pass through small towns and rural areas, offering glimpses of everyday Kenyan life. Your guide will provide commentary on the regions you're passing through. Stop for a picnic lunch en route, perhaps at a scenic viewpoint in the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive at your accommodation - either Lake Nakuru Lodge or Flamingo Hill Camp - in the late afternoon. These lodges offer comfortable rooms with views of the lake or surrounding acacia forests.

Return to the lodge for a late breakfast and some relaxation time. You might spot animals coming to drink at nearby waterholes from the lodge's viewing areas.

After lunch, embark on another game drive, exploring different parts of the park. Visit Baboon Cliff for panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscapes. Your guide will help you spot and identify various wildlife and bird species.

As the day ends, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, perhaps enjoying a sundowner drink while watching the sun set over the lake.

  • Day 8: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

    Drive Time: About 5-6 hours

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

In the afternoon, set out for your first game drive in the Masai Mara. The reserve is renowned for its exceptional population of big cats - lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Your guide will seek out these predators as well as other iconic African wildlife.

Return to the camp for dinner and overnight, perhaps enjoying a traditional Masai dance performance if offered by your accommodation.
