There are no direct flights from Switzerland to Kenya. From Zurich or Geneva you connect once, through hubs such as Istanbul, Addis Ababa, the Gulf or another European city, and arrive in Nairobi the same day or overnight. Return fares from Zurich have started at around 500 euro on the cheapest dates.

Kenya is only one or two hours ahead of Switzerland, so you arrive tired but without jet lag. Our Kenya safaris from Switzerland page shows trips that work well from a one-stop flight.

Routes from Zurich

Skyscanner confirms that no airline flies non-stop from Zurich to Nairobi. Ethiopian Airlines and Turkish Airlines appear most often among the cheaper fares, and November and December have been the cheapest months, with returns from about 498 euro. Ethiopian sells tickets from Zurich to Kenya through Addis Ababa.

Fares change quickly, and the cheapest options are not always the shortest. Compare total journey time as well as price, because a long layover can cost you a day of your trip.

From Geneva

Geneva has no direct flights to Kenya either, so you connect through the same kinds of hubs. Check both airports for your dates, as the fares and connection times can differ.

Flying to Mombasa

If you are ending at the coast, there is no non-stop Zurich to Mombasa service, according to AirportOverview, so you connect through a hub or fly home from Nairobi. Many of our safari and beach trips include the flight from the parks to the coast.

Arriving in Nairobi

We meet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Our safaris leave in the morning, so a late arrival means a night in Nairobi first, and we can book the hotel. Fly-in trips leave from Wilson Airport, Nairobi’s domestic airport, so leave time for the transfer. Our guide to fly-in or road safaris explains when flying is worth it.

Before you book

Book your safari dates first, then flights. You will also need an eTA and Kenya’s mandatory travel insurance, both covered in Kenya travel requirements for Swiss citizens. For camp ideas, read our park-by-park camp guide.
