Adding a Safari to a Kenya Beach Holiday from Poland

The easiest way to add a safari to a Kenya beach holiday is to plan the two together, with the safari first and three to five nights on the coast after. If your beach hotel is already booked, a short Masai Mara trip from Nairobi is the next best option. Two or three nights in the parks is enough to see a lot.

Plan both together

This gives you the best trip for the travel time. Three routes work well:

• 7 days, from $1,750: three nights in the Mara, then three at Diani Beach, leaving from Mombasa.
• 9 days, from $2,000: the Mara and Amboseli, then three nights in Mombasa.
• 10 days, from $2,800: Amboseli and Tsavo East, then five nights at Diani.

Those “from” prices are for six people between January and June, so a couple will pay more.

Already booked a beach holiday?

Then the question is how to reach the parks. Most of our safaris start in Nairobi, so you either begin your holiday there before flying to the coast, or fly to Nairobi partway through. The 3-day Mara budget safari, from $600, is the shortest option by road. Tell us your hotel and dates and we will suggest the simplest way to fit a safari in.

Which beach?

Diani, south of Mombasa, has long white sand and a wide choice of hotels. Watamu, further north, is smaller and quieter. Mombasa itself has the Old Town and Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We compare two of these in Diani Beach vs Mombasa.

When to go

Many Polish travellers come in winter, and January and February work well for both halves of the trip, with a short dry season in the parks and warm weather on the coast.
