About Tracey Pelham

Tracey Pelham has a degree in Travel and Tourism Management from the University of Nairobi and has been in the travel industry for over 10 years. She specializes in international travel planning and custom itinerary creation, especially luxury and adventure safaris.

She has experience from the office to the bush. Prior to Majestic Kenya Safaris, Tracey worked for years at Ardan Safaris in various capacities, from desk based bookings and logistics to hands-on in bush camps. At the office, she learned all the details of the business, from bookings to logistics, park fees to flight connections, and the myriad of small details that make or break a trip. Camp work taught her the other half: what guests feel when they arrive after a long drive, what makes a camp memorable, and where the gap lies between what was sold and what was delivered. This combination enables her to understand the travellers’ needs from the initial enquiry to the final game drive. If she suggests a lodge or a route, it’s not from a brochure, it’s from her knowledge.

She has organized safaris throughout the spectrum of African travel: game viewing on the open plains, walking safaris, canoeing, family safaris combining wildlife and the coast. She takes the time to listen to what each traveller wants, regardless of the brief. She has different camps, different pacing and different guides for a honeymoon couple, a family with young children, and a photographer chasing the migration. She has designed itineraries for clients from all over the world, her work has been featured in a number of travel magazines and she has written two guides on sustainable tourism practices. Responsible travel is not an afterthought for her. She prefers camps and conservancies where the money from tourism is passed on to the communities and wildlife that rely on it.

Tracey is the Senior Safari Consultant at Majestic Kenya Safaris where she designs itineraries and plans for clients, ensuring that what is promised on paper is delivered on the ground. As she writes for the Majestic Kenya blog, she uses the same experience she uses to plan real trips: park fees she has calculated, camps she has stayed in and seasons she has watched change year after year.
