Flights from Russia to Kenya: Routes, Times and Connections

There are no direct flights from Russia to Kenya at the moment. From Moscow you connect once, usually through Dubai, and the journey takes about 15 to 17 hours in total. Kenya’s ambassador to Russia said in October 2026 that a direct route is still being considered, but no date or airline has been named.

For most travellers, Nairobi is the right airport, because almost all of our safaris start there. Once you have a route in mind, our Kenya safaris from Russia page shows which trips fit.

Routes from Moscow

Rome2Rio shows journeys of about 15 to 17 hours from Moscow’s airports to Nairobi. Emirates and flydubai are the usual choices through Dubai. Other airlines listed on the route include Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Ethiopian Airlines and Egyptair. Fares and schedules change often, so compare them for your own dates.

Departing from another Russian city adds a further flight or a longer connection. Check that your whole journey is on one ticket if you can, because a missed connection on separate tickets is your own problem to solve.

Connections to check carefully

Two things are worth checking in late 2026.

Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities have banned entry for travellers who were in Kenya in the previous 21 days. Avoid a route home through Saudi Arabia until this changes.

Gulf disruption. Regional tensions have caused cancellations around the Gulf this autumn, mainly on Saudi routes. Check your flight with the airline a few days before you leave, and again before you travel. We cover the wider health and entry picture in our guide to Kenya travel requirements for Russian citizens.

Arriving in Nairobi

You land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where we meet you for your airport transfer. Nairobi and Moscow are both on UTC+3, so there is no jet lag to deal with, only a long day.

Many flights arrive late in the evening. Our safaris leave in the morning, so a late arrival usually means a night in Nairobi first, and we can book a hotel for you. If you are flying on to the Mara, allow for the transfer to Wilson Airport, Nairobi’s domestic airport, because light aircraft do not leave from the main terminal.

Going home from the coast

If you plan to finish at Diani or Watamu, look at flights home from Mombasa or return to Nairobi for your long-haul flight. Our guide to combining a safari with the beach explains how the last day works on each route.

What to book first

Choose your safari dates before you book flights. Camps have limited rooms, especially between late July and October, and we can usually advise on arrival times before you pay for a ticket. We do not normally book international flights, but we can help if you ask.

Then tell us your flight numbers and we will arrange your transfers around them.
