“The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie…”

Planning a budget Kenya safari

A budget safari in Kenya still means a private vehicle, your own guide and the same parks as any luxury trip. We keep the price down by using simpler, well-run camps just outside the park gates and by travelling by road.

Where the savings come from

Accommodation is the biggest cost on any safari. Our budget camps are clean and comfortable, with en-suite tents or rooms and good food, but fewer extras. Staying just outside a reserve can add a short drive in the morning, so we plan early starts to make the most of the best light.

Choosing a route

For a short trip, a 3-day Masai Mara safari or a 3-day Amboseli trip gives you a real taste of the bush. With five to seven days you can add Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha or Amboseli. Nine or ten days covers the main southern circuit in full.

What’s included

Accommodation, all meals, park fees, game drives and airport transfers are in the price. Reserve with a 30% deposit and pay the balance 60 days before travel.
