How Much Does a Kenya Safari Cost from Ireland? Prices in Euro and Dollars

A private Kenya safari from Ireland costs from about €535 per person for three days in the Masai Mara on a budget trip, and from about €1,870 to €2,225 for a mid-range or luxury week, before flights. Those are our lowest prices, for a group of six travelling between January and June. A couple travelling in August on the same luxury week pays about €3,740 each.

Camps and parks in Kenya charge in US dollars, so our prices are in dollars too. Below, every figure is converted at roughly €0.89 to the dollar, the European Central Bank rate in mid-October 2026. Check the current rate before you budget.

What a safari costs by length and style

These are our starting prices per person for private trips with your own vehicle and guide. “From” means a group of six sharing, January to June; a couple pays more, as the example further down shows.

TripFrom (USD)About (EUR)
3-day Masai Mara budget safari$600€535
5-day mid-range Mara, Nakuru and Naivasha$1,400€1,245
7-day luxury Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli$2,500€2,225
7-day mid-range Amboseli, Nakuru and Mara$2,100€1,870
9-day classic luxury safari$3,300€2,940
10-day safari and beach$2,800€2,490

The quoted price includes your accommodation, meals on safari, park fees, game drives and transfers in Kenya. It does not include international flights, the eTA, insurance, tips or drinks. Every trip on our Ireland safari page lists its inclusions in full.

Why two safaris of the same length cost different amounts

The Masai Mara season. Non-resident entry to the Mara is US$200 per adult per day from July to December and US$100 from January to June. On a three-night Mara stay, that alone moves the price by about €270 per person.

Group size. The vehicle and guide cost the same for two people as for six, so per-person prices fall as the group grows. A couple pays the most per head.

Lodge level. This is the biggest swing. A mid-range lodge and a small tented camp in the same park can be several hundred dollars a night apart. The route can stay the same while the lodges change.

Road or air. Flying between parks costs more but saves a day of driving each way. It makes sense on longer trips that include Samburu or the coast.

Other costs to budget for

  • Flights: there is no direct flight from Dublin, so you will connect through London, Amsterdam, Istanbul or the Gulf. Our guide to flights from Ireland to Kenya compares the routes. Fares change too much to quote, so price them once your safari dates are set.
  • The Kenya eTA: about US$30 to US$32.50 per person, applied for online.
  • Tips: a common guide is US$10 to US$20 per guest per day for your driver-guide, plus US$5 to US$15 per guest per day for camp staff, usually through a shared tip box.
  • Travel insurance with medical evacuation cover. Your EHIC does not cover you in Kenya.
  • Optional extras: a sunrise balloon flight over the Mara, a Maasai village visit or a few nights on the coast.

A worked example for a couple

Two people on our 7-day luxury safari to the Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli, travelling in late August:

  • Safari: US$4,200 each for two people from July to December, about €3,740
  • eTA: about €29 each
  • Tips over seven days: roughly US$105 to US$245 each, about €95 to €220
  • Insurance and vaccinations: varies by provider

So before flights, plan for about €3,860 to €3,990 each for this trip in August. The same couple travelling in February pays US$3,500 each for the safari, about €3,115, because the Mara fee halves and lodges drop their rates. Our guide to the best time to go from Ireland shows how school holidays line up with the seasons.

How payment works

A 30% deposit confirms your booking, and the balance is due 60 days before you travel. We quote in US dollars, and you can pay by bank transfer or card. If you pay from a euro account, your bank converts at its own rate, so it is worth comparing a specialist transfer service for the balance.

Send us your month, group size and the kind of lodges you like, and we will send a written quote within 24 hours. You can also browse Kenya safari packages for Irish travellers first.
