Home › Luxury Kenya Safaris › 10-Day Kenya Highlights Luxury Safari
Ten days covering Kenya’s premier wildlife destinations in one comprehensive circuit. This full-highlights safari visits Samburu’s northern wilderness, Ol Pejeta’s rhino and chimp conservation, Lake Nakuru for more rhinos, Lake Naivasha for boat safaris, the Masai Mara for Big Five viewing, and finishes at Amboseli beneath Kilimanjaro. All road travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle.
The routing flows logically from north to south with minimal backtracking. Start in Samburu for species you won’t see anywhere else, work down through the conservancy and Rift Valley lakes, across to the Mara for the main wildlife spectacle, then finish at Amboseli for elephants and mountain views before returning to Nairobi.
Accommodations mix boutique luxury with established quality properties. Elephant Bedroom Camp in Samburu sits along the river with tents under doum palms. Sweetwaters Serena in Ol Pejeta overlooks a waterhole with Mount Kenya views. Sarova Lion Hill at Nakuru has panoramic lake views. Sarova Mara sits on the eastern side of the reserve, close to the main game areas. Enashipai Resort at Naivasha offers spa luxury between safari sections. Ol Tukai in Amboseli sits inside the park next to swamps where elephants feed constantly.
This is the complete Kenya experience, every major habitat, all the key species, proper luxury throughout.
Accommodations:
Samburu 2 nights · Ol Pejeta 1 night · Lake Nakuru 1 night · Lake Naivasha 1 night · Masai Mara 3 nights · Amboseli 1 night. Starts and ends in Nairobi.
Long drive days? Ask about flying between parks instead. It can save most of a day.
Drive Time: 5-6 hours · Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel around 7:00 AM. Drive north through the central highlands with views of Mount Kenya when it’s clear. Pass through Nanyuki, then continue north as the scenery shifts from green farmland to drier scrubland and red soil.
Arrive at Elephant Bedroom Camp around midday. The camp sits along the Ewaso Ng’iro River under doum palms, twelve tents scattered along the riverbank. The name comes from elephants that cross here regularly. Check in, lunch overlooking the river, then first game drive at 4:00 PM.
Immediate difference in wildlife. Reticulated giraffe with tighter geometric patterns. Grevy’s zebra, bigger than plains zebra with narrower stripes and round ears. Gerenuk feeding on hind legs. Beisa oryx with long straight horns. None of these species exist south of here. Lions and leopards work the riverine areas where there’s shade and cover.
Dinner and overnight at Elephant Bedroom Camp.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Full day in Samburu National Reserve. Early morning drive along the Ewaso Ng’iro River when animals are active and temperatures are still reasonable. Elephants crossing back and forth, crocodiles sunning on banks, hippos in the deeper pools. Predators rest in the shade during midday heat but morning catches them before they disappear.
Samburu gets significantly fewer visitors than the Mara. When you find lions or leopards, you’ll often have the sighting to yourself. The northern specialists remain interesting, watching gerenuk balance on hind legs to reach acacia leaves, or Grevy’s zebra interacting with plains zebra where their ranges overlap.
Back to camp for late breakfast. Out again at 4:00 PM until dark. Good birdlife for dry-country species including vulturine guineafowl with their cobalt-blue plumage, yellow-billed hornbills, and various starlings. The camp does sundowners by the river on request.
Dinner and overnight at Elephant Bedroom Camp.
Drive Time: 3-4 hours · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Morning game drive in Samburu, breakfast, then drive south to Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Nanyuki. Route retraces part of yesterday’s journey but turns off toward the conservancy. Road is tarmac most of the way, easy driving through the highlands.
Arrive at Sweetwaters Serena Camp for lunch. The camp sits inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy overlooking a waterhole with Mount Kenya rising behind when it’s clear. Tented accommodation with proper luxury, large beds, en-suite bathrooms, private verandas. After settling in, afternoon game drive in the conservancy.
Ol Pejeta is private land with all the Big Five. The conservancy has the last two northern white rhinos on earth, kept under 24-hour armed guard in a protected enclosure. There’s also a chimp sanctuary here, unusual because chimps aren’t native to Kenya. The rescued chimps live in a large fenced area where they can be observed. Good predator populations, lots of plains game. Night drives are permitted in the conservancy.
Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.
Drive Time: 3-4 hours · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Morning game drive in Ol Pejeta with visit to the northern white rhino sanctuary if desired. These are the last two individuals of their subspecies, Najin and Fatu. The conservancy maintains round-the-clock security. Also possible to visit the chimp sanctuary for scheduled viewing times.
After breakfast, drive southwest to Lake Nakuru. Drive on good roads through the highlands and down into the Rift Valley. Arrive at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge for lunch.
The lodge sits on a ridge inside Lake Nakuru National Park with panoramic views over the lake. After settling in, afternoon game drive around Nakuru. The park is compact and fully fenced, which has helped both black and white rhino populations recover significantly. One of the few places in Kenya where you’re likely to see both species in a single afternoon. Leopards are spotted regularly in trees. Flamingo numbers vary with the lake’s chemistry but can be spectacular when conditions are right.
Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.
Drive Time: 1.5 hours · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Early morning game drive in Nakuru, best time for predators and active rhinos. Return for breakfast, check out, then short drive south to Lake Naivasha. Easy drive through the Rift Valley on good tarmac.
Arrive at Enashipai Resort & Spa for lunch. The property sits on the lake shore with manicured gardens running down to the water. This is a resort rather than a safari camp, spa facilities, large pool, proper restaurant. More of a relaxation stop between the wildlife-focused sections.
After lunch, boat safari on Lake Naivasha. The lake is freshwater, different from the alkaline soda lakes in the Rift Valley. Large hippo populations, fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants along the shore. The boat takes you around the papyrus edges where birds concentrate. Optional walk on Crescent Island where you can get close to zebra, giraffe, wildebeest without a vehicle, no predators on the island.
Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Pool, spa treatments available, or just relax in the gardens. This is recovery time before heading to the Mara tomorrow.
Dinner and overnight at Enashipai Resort & Spa.
Drive Time: 4-5 hours · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Breakfast at the resort, then drive west to the Masai Mara through Narok. Road is tarmac to Narok, then rougher murram road into the reserve but manageable. Scenery opens into Maasai grazing land as you approach the reserve boundary.
Arrive at Sarova Mara Game Camp for lunch. The camp sits on the eastern side of the reserve, a short drive from the main game-viewing areas. Tented accommodation with proper facilities, this is luxury camping, not roughing it. After settling in, late afternoon game drive into the reserve.
Wildlife density is immediately obvious. Lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffe spread across the grassland. Your guide will position you for good viewing as light drops.
Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Game Camp.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Two full days in the Mara. Morning and afternoon game drives each day. Early starts around 6:30 AM when it’s cooler and animals are most active. Lions are practically guaranteed, the Mara has healthy populations and they’re visible. Leopards require more patience but sightings happen regularly near the Mara River where there’s tree cover. Cheetahs hunt on the open plains. Buffalo in massive herds, elephants everywhere, rhinos present but less common.
If you’re here July through October, the migration dominates everything. Over a million wildebeest plus zebra crossing from Tanzania. River crossings are dramatic when they happen but completely unpredictable, might see three in a morning or wait days. Your guide maintains radio contact with other drivers and will get you there if activity builds.
Outside migration months, the resident wildlife still delivers excellent viewing. Actually less crowded without the seasonal rush. Hot air balloon safaris available if booked ahead (around $450 per person).
The Mara River deserves extended time even without crossings, hippo pods, large crocodiles, excellent birdlife along the water. Worth spending an hour just watching the interactions.
Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Game Camp.
Drive Time: 9-10 hours via Nairobi · Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Early breakfast, then the long drive to Amboseli. Route goes back through Nairobi (5-6 hours), then continues southeast to Amboseli (about 4 more hours). Longest driving day of the safari but unavoidable, there’s no practical direct route between Mara and Amboseli.
Lunch stop in Nairobi or packed lunch depending on timing. Scenery changes dramatically as you leave the highlands and drop into drier country approaching Amboseli. Kilimanjaro appears on the horizon well before you reach the park.
Arrive at Ol Tukai Lodge in the early evening. The lodge sits inside Amboseli National Park next to a permanent swamp. Wildlife passes through constantly, elephants, buffalo, zebra drinking and feeding visible from the rooms and restaurant terrace. Time to settle in and watch the swamp from the terrace before dinner.
Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.
Drive Time: 4-5 hours · Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Final early morning game drive in Amboseli. Start around 6:30 AM to catch Kilimanjaro before clouds form, the mountain shows best at dawn, then usually disappears by mid-morning. Your guide will position you for the classic shot: elephants with the peak behind them.
Amboseli is all about elephants. Large herds moving between the swamps, family groups with calves, big tuskers. The research project here has tracked these families since 1972. Also plenty of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, various antelope.
Return to lodge around 9:00 AM for breakfast. Pack up, then drive back to Nairobi. Lunch stop en route or packed lunch. Arrive in Nairobi mid to late afternoon. Drop off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for evening international flights.

A Couple in December 2025 - 5 Stars We booked with Stanley and Majestic Safari for the 6-day luxury tour through Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli. The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie, who was an essential part of tracking these animals - you have to request him if booking through Majestic. Each accommodation also exceeded our expectations in terms of location, comfort, quality and service of the staff. Being a first time safari for us, we weren’t sure what to expect - but selecting the luxury option was well worth it. All aspects of travel and organisation was seamless. Once booked, there was next to nothing for us to think about as we were in experienced hands - and we were glad to have partnered with Majestic as there was significantly more organisation required in the background than we originally realised. Stanley also went above and beyond the itinerary, picking us up from the airport late at night despite the tour not starting until a few days later and ensuring we had some food to take into the hotel. This was after providing us with in-depth packing lists and general guidance on exploring Nairobi. I couldn’t recommend Majestic enough and hope to arrange another trip with Stanley in the future.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A Beautiful Safari with an Excellent Guide – Just Check the Route First Majestic Kenyan Safaris gave us a wonderful Kenya experience, and our guide was genuinely lovely. He was calm, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, parks, and local environment, which made the safari both engaging and meaningful. One thing worth noting for future travellers is the itinerary structure. Over the six-day safari, the route involved long drives in a zig-zag pattern rather than a simple circular loop. This meant more transit time on some days. This was not the fault of the company or the guide, as the itinerary was clearly outlined, but something we wish we had paid closer attention to when booking. Overall, Majestic Kenyan Safaris were professional, warm, and well organised. With careful attention to route planning beforehand, they offer a truly memorable safari experience.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

The most Unforgettable Safari Stanley Gichuki crafted the journey of dreams Thanks to our incredible guide, Bonie whose fearless spirit turned every mile into magic. He welcomed us in Samburu National Park and led us off the beaten path with a deep, soulful knowledge of the land, its stories, its rhythms, its wild heart. Samburu was our favorite in terms of landscape. We stood in awe in Samburu as reticulated giraffes swept across the horizon, watched Grevy’s zebras stride with quiet elegance, and felt the earth tremble beneath African elephants. We held our breath as a cheetah emerged from the tall grass, and we followed Kamau Boniethrough wet, treacherous tracks to where lions rule their hidden kingdom. Our journey continued into Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a sanctuary of hope, where we encountered the gentle wisdom of chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall, Sweetwater Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and witnessed the immense beauty of both white and black rhinos, alongside more elephants, more lions… and countless unforgettable moments. Our journey ended in the Maasai Mara . Our last drive was unforgettabel as we watched a cheetah devouring a thompson gazelle, leaving the rest of the kill to a fight between two jackals and a flock of vultures. We had a brief encounter with a leopard walking down a river and watched more lions enjoying their buffalo lunch. Truly memorable experiences. Kenya, you are once in a lifetime. Thank youPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Safari with Majestick Kenya We just returned from a 9 days safari, and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was arranged very well, our driver/guide Bonnie was outstanding. The tour company did everything to be helpfull in picking up from the airport, taking us with their jeep to all the place we visited, and we had very nice game drives. We went to Samburu, Oj Pejeta, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. The lodges were great, good value for money and we were upgraded in 2 places. Thank you Majestick, and al your staff. Amazing Safari Experience! Just got back from an amazing 7-day safari with Majestic Kenya Safaris! Our guide Samuel was fantastic - incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara. Everything was perfectly organized from airport transfers to accommodations. The mix of lodges and tented camps was great, and falling asleep to African bush sounds was magical. Vehicle was comfortable for the longer drives between parks. One activity got cancelled due to weather, but they quickly arranged something even better. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a Kenya safari - unforgettable experience!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Best Safari experience! Majestic Kenya Safaris in Nairobi exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we booked, their team was incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring every detail was taken care of. The safari itself was breathtaking—our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and knew the best spots for wildlife viewing. We saw the Big Five up close, along with stunning landscapes that felt like something out of a dream. The accommodations were luxurious yet blended seamlessly with nature. What stood out most was their genuine passion for conservation and community support. I highly recommend Majestic Kenya Safaris for an unforgettable, world-class experience in Kenya!
