Why travel with us

A Kenyan team that plans and runs your trip

01

Kenya-born guides

Our guides grew up here and have years in the field. They read animal behaviour, so you are in place before the action starts.

02

Pay for a seat, not a vehicle

You share a 4×4 Land Cruiser with other travellers on the same route, so the cost of the vehicle, fuel and guide is split across the group. That is what brings a 3-day Mara trip under $400.

03

One clear price

Park fees, accommodation, game drives and transport from Mama Ngina Street in Nairobi are in the price. Airport transfers and optional extras, such as the Naivasha boat ride, cost extra and are listed on each trip page.

What's included

Shared vehicle, park fees in the price

“The trip completely exceeded our expectations, even despite it not being ‘peak season’ we were able to tick off Africa’s Big 5 on the very first game drive. This was in no small part down to our guide, Bonnie…”

“Our guide Samuel was fantastic – incredible wildlife knowledge and spotted animals from miles away. We saw the Big Five, including a pride of lions with cubs in the Maasai Mara.”

Planning a group joining safari in Kenya

A group joining safari visits the same parks as a private trip, at a much lower price. You give up control of the schedule and the vehicle, and in return the cost of the Land Cruiser and guide is shared.

How group joining works

You book a seat on a set route. On the first morning you meet the group on Mama Ngina Street in central Nairobi and set off in a 4×4 Land Cruiser. The trip ends back on Mama Ngina Street. If you are landing at the airport or flying out on the last day, we can arrange the transfer at extra cost.

The group may change on longer trips, as some people leave after the Mara while others join for Nakuru or Amboseli. Your camp in each park is one of a short list of budget properties, confirmed before you travel.

Group joining or private?

Group joining suits solo travellers, couples and anyone watching their budget. A private trip makes more sense for families with young children, photographers who want to wait at sightings, and groups of four or more, where the private price per person starts to come close. Compare the routes on our private budget safaris page.

How many days to book

Three days gives you one full day in the Mara, which is enough for a first taste. Four or five days adds Lake Nakuru and Naivasha without long drives. The 6- and 7-day trips add Amboseli, but include one long drive day to get there.
