Accommodation:
Travel Time: 1-hour flight
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Your safari starts with a morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the international airport. Transfer to Wilson Airport for your short flight to the Masai Mara. The flight itself is an adventure, offering stunning aerial views of the Kenyan landscape.
Upon landing at the airstrip in the Mara, you'll be met by a guide from your camp. Enjoy a short game drive on the way to your accommodation, perhaps spotting some wildlife en route. Arrive at your tented camp - let's say the mid-range Mara Leisure Camp - in time for lunch.
After settling in and a short rest, head out for an afternoon game drive. Your skilled guide will introduce you to the Mara ecosystem, helping you spot animals like elephants, giraffes, and various antelopes. As the sun starts to set, find a scenic spot for sundowner drinks before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Wake up early to the sounds of the bush coming alive. After a quick coffee or tea, set off on an early morning game drive. This is often the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs either hunting or returning from their night's activities.
Return to camp for a hearty late breakfast. Spend the hot midday hours relaxing at camp, perhaps taking a dip in the pool or enjoying the view from your tent's private veranda.
After lunch, head out for another game drive. Your guide will take you to different areas of the reserve, maximizing your chances of diverse wildlife sightings. Keep your eyes peeled for the "Big Five" - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. If you're visiting during the Great Migration (typically July to October), you might witness the spectacular sight of wildebeest and zebras crossing the plains or rivers.
As the day cools, your guide will find a scenic spot for you to stretch your legs and enjoy another beautiful Mara sunset. Return to camp for dinner and perhaps gather around the campfire to share stories with other guests before turning in for the night.
Travel Time: 1-hour flight back to Nairobi
Meals: Breakfast
Make the most of your final morning with an early game drive. The animals are often active at this time, and the soft morning light is perfect for photography. This is your last chance to spot any animals you might have missed or to simply soak in the beauty of the Mara one more time.
Return to camp for breakfast and to pack up. Depending on your flight time, you might have a chance for a short nature walk with a guide near the camp.
Transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi, arriving at Wilson Airport in the late morning or early afternoon. You'll be met and transferred to your Nairobi hotel or the international airport, marking the end of your fly-in safari adventure.
