Whether you’re a first-time safari-goer or a seasoned traveler, find answers to your burning questions about accommodations, costs, safety, and more. Let this guide be your first step towards an amazing Kenyan safari experience!

Most Kenya safari packages cover the essentials: lodging (either in lodges or tented camps), all your meals, park entry fees, and game drives led by seasoned guides. You’ll usually find airport transfers and local taxes included too. Some packages go the extra mile with cultural visits or walking safaris. If you’ve got any special requests, just let us know when you’re booking – we’re pretty flexible!

While Kenya’s a great year-round destination for wildlife enthusiasts, the main dry season from June to October is particularly popular. Animals tend to gather around water sources then, making them easier to spot. Plus, you might catch the Great Wildebeest Migration during this time. That said, there’s also a shorter dry spell from mid-December to mid-March that can be fantastic for wildlife viewing. Remember, each season has its own charm, and you’re likely to see amazing wildlife whenever you visit.

Absolutely! Many of our lodges and camps cater to families, with activities that’ll keep the kids entertained. Just keep in mind that some places might have age restrictions for certain activities, like walking safaris. Our team will give you a heads up about any age limits when you’re booking.

Great news! As of January 1, 2024, Kenya’s made it easier for international visitors. Now, regardless of your nationality, you can enter Kenya for tourism or business without a traditional visa for stays up to 90 days. However, you’ll need to get an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before your trip. This new system replaces the old visa requirements, making it simpler for short-term visitors to enter Kenya.

Think light and neutral when packing clothes – beige, khaki, or olive blend well with the environment. Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A good camera with extra batteries and memory cards is a must. Comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket for cool evenings will come in handy too.

We recommend booking 3-12 months in advance, especially if you’re planning to visit during peak seasons like the Great Migration or holiday periods. Early booking usually means better availability, potentially lower prices, and more room for customization.

Safari costs can vary widely depending on factors like trip length, accommodation type, and included activities. While budget options exist, mid-range safaris typically start around $2,000-$3,000 per person, and luxury experiences can easily exceed $5,000 per person. Prices fluctuate based on season, park fees, and the level of comfort and exclusivity you’re after.

While we try to be upfront about costs, there are a few extras to keep in mind. These might include tips for guides and camp staff, personal expenses like souvenirs, travel insurance, and any optional activities not included in your package. It’s always a good idea to budget a bit extra for these.

Absolutely! We love helping you create your perfect safari. Whether you want to focus on specific animals, include more cultural experiences, or adjust your time at each location, we can tailor the trip to your interests and schedule.

We’ve got options for every taste and budget, from basic campsites to luxury lodges. You might find yourself in a classic canvas tent one night and a high-end suite with panoramic views the next. Each place offers its own unique experience of the Kenyan wilderness.

Most safari packages include all your meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll usually eat at your lodge or camp, enjoying a mix of local and international dishes. Some trips might treat you to a picnic lunch or a meal in the bush during game drives.

Absolutely! Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have food allergies, most lodges and camps can accommodate your needs. Just make sure to let us know when you book so the staff can prepare accordingly.

Kenya’s home to an incredible variety of wildlife. In the Masai Mara, you’ve got a good chance of spotting the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), plus giraffes, zebras, and cheetahs. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos and rhinos, while Amboseli offers stunning elephant sightings with Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. Keep in mind that wildlife viewing is unpredictable – animals roam freely, so sightings can never be guaranteed. That’s part of the excitement!

Most packages include two game drives a day – one early morning and another in the late afternoon. These times offer the best wildlife viewing as animals are most active during the cooler parts of the day.

Yes, some lodges and camps offer walking safaris in designated areas. It’s a great way to experience the environment up close, guided by an experienced ranger who can tell you all about tracks, plants, and smaller creatures you might miss from a vehicle.

It’s a magical experience where you enjoy a meal in the heart of the wilderness. Your lodge or camp will set up a dining area in a scenic spot, often during a game drive. There’s nothing quite like savoring your food while surrounded by nature!

Kenya is a popular safari destination with well-established tourism infrastructure. However, as with any travel, it’s important to stay informed about current conditions and follow basic safety precautions. Listen to your guide’s instructions and use common sense, like avoiding unfamiliar areas alone.

It’s recommended to get vaccinations for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and typhoid before visiting Kenya. A yellow fever vaccination is often required, especially if you’re arriving from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. Malaria prophylaxis is also advised. Be sure to consult with your doctor or a travel health clinic well before your trip for the most up-to-date recommendations.

Don’t worry – we’ve got procedures in place for medical emergencies. This includes first aid kits, communication with nearby medical facilities, and emergency evacuation services if needed. Your safety is our top priority.

Malaria is present in parts of Kenya, but the risk varies depending on where and when you’re traveling. It’s generally higher in lowland areas and during the rainy season. We recommend taking malaria prophylaxis as advised by your doctor, and using mosquito repellent and nets to minimize the risk of bites.

We’ve got you covered with transportation. You’ll typically travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof – perfect for game viewing. Your package includes all transfers between parks and lodges. Plus, you’ll have a dedicated driver-guide who knows the routes like the back of their hand and can share loads of info about the wildlife and surroundings.

Most of our lodges and camps are accessible by road from major cities or local airstrips. For some of the more remote spots, we might need to arrange a short flight on a light aircraft. Don’t worry, though – all necessary transfers are part of your package. We’ll make sure you get where you need to go.

Absolutely! If you fall in love with a particular spot (and trust us, you might), we can often arrange to extend your stay. Want to add a hot air balloon safari, visit a local community, or squeeze in some extra game drives? Just let us know, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Many of our safari itineraries include visits to local Maasai villages or other communities. It’s a great way to gain insight into traditional lifestyles and cultural practices. These visits are guided and designed to be respectful and informative.

Definitely! We often include cultural interactions with Maasai communities in our safaris. You might have the chance to learn about Maasai customs, join in traditional dances, or explore local crafts. It’s a fantastic way to enrich your safari experience beyond wildlife viewing.

Our cancellation policies can vary depending on how far in advance you cancel and the specific terms of your booking. In some cases, you might be eligible for a full refund, while in others, it might be partial. We always recommend reviewing the terms and conditions of your booking carefully. Also, consider travel insurance – it can be a real lifesaver if unexpected circumstances force you to cancel.

The earlier you let us know about any special requests or needs, the better we can accommodate them. Whether it’s accessibility requirements, dietary restrictions, or any other special considerations, just mention it when you’re booking. We’ll do our best to make sure your needs are met.

When you book, we’ll provide you with contact details for customer support. This usually includes an email address and phone number. Make sure to keep this information handy throughout your trip. Whether you have a question or run into an issue, we’re here to help.

Absolutely, and we’d love to hear it! After your trip, we encourage you to share your thoughts. Your feedback helps us improve our services and provides valuable insights for future travelers. We might send you a survey, or you can reach out directly to share your experience.

If you misplace something during your safari, don’t panic. Contact your safari guide, lodge staff, or our customer support team as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to help locate your lost items or guide you through the process of retrieving them. It’s always a good idea to keep valuables close and use any safes provided in your accommodation.
